Wind Solutions (Wind Turbines)
Wind energy is a clean and reliable technology which can contribute to a buildings energy demand when it is needed most. Recent developments in turbine design have allowed architects to integrate the turbine within the building envelope during construction or renovation assisting the occupants to supply peak loads from clean green energy.
These turbines have been designed taking into consideration noise restrictions imposed in urban settings. Traditional vertical axis wind turbines (VAWT) have disqualified their own installation in the past due to the associated vibration of the turbine blades causing excessive noise. The emerging breed of wind turbine offers both VAWT with noise control and horizontal axis wind turbines (HAWT) which operate little or with no vibration.
These turbines are increasingly easier to integrate into building design and as such are categorised as building integrated wind turbines (BIWT) which consequently has revolutionised emission reduction solutions for commercial buildings.
This BIWT technological application is still in the early stages of maturity however SHC is carefully observing the multitude of designs research and development institutions have been forwarding to us in order to offer an efficient and low maintenance turbine that's installation will not be restricted by local government regulations.
