Greywater Management
Greywater is classified as potable water used once for washing or cleaning without chemical additives. This does not include wastewater from the sewer (sewer water is classified as blackwater). The reuse applications will vary depending on the level of treatment the greywater is processed to.
SHGL has experience with simple pump and diversion systems, which are limited to reuse in subsurface irrigation systems as well as commercial specification full treatment systems resulting in water suitable for reuse in toilet flushing and above ground irrigation.
Businesses which consume large quantities of water in daily operations will be forced to consider water efficiency technologies to continue to operate within specified consumption and discharge parameters and to remain competitive in an increasingly environmentally aware marketplace or simply to abide by local regulation.
SHG have solutions in commercial water recycling for applications such as
- Commercial Laundries
- Accommodation facilities
- Industrial / manufacturing reuse
- Vehicle cleaning & wash-down facilities
- Sporting field irrigation
The feasibility of full treatment systems will depend on a number of factors including the price of water, availability of supply and restrictions on consumption.
There is varying legislation between states and local councils as to the restrictions for reuse applications. These will be investigated by SHG after our initial consultation.
Most solutions are site specific and will require on site analysis. We recommend site analysis to be undertaken while other efficiency solutions are also being investigated.
